Golden Gourmet, where culinary meets compassion
As Hong Kong's population ages, a silent challenge grows. Sadly, the simple joy of eating often becomes a struggle for seniors who, like many, face swallowing difficulties. So, to give seniors an opportunity to enjoy high-quality meals, Chinachem Group, in partnership with the Golden Age Foundation, responded in 2023 with the Golden Gourmet initiative – a programme delivering dignified, delicious dining for the elderly.
Age-Friendly Estates Pilot Scheme
In partnership with The Hong Kong Council of Social Service, the Age-Friendly Estates Pilot Scheme was launched in 2023, introducing a series of initiatives and events to raise awareness of healthy ageing in place and promote an age-friendly neighbourhood that supports residents.
My Good Part-Time Grandchildren
The Group and Caritas Community Centre in Tsuen Wan launched the “My Good Part-Time Grandchildren” (PTGC) Programme to foster intergenerational connections and enhance elderly residents’ access to community resources. Volunteers engage with the elderly through shared meals, activities, visits, and outings.
Care for the Elderly Ambassadors Programme
Since 2021, we have partnered with the Senior Citizen Home Safety Association on the Care for the Elderly Ambassador Programme, now in its second three-year cycle. This initiative fosters meaningful connections between youth and the elderly, reinforcing our commitment to a caring and inclusive community.
Anchor Children with Elders (ACE) Art
With a focus on the wellbeing of golden agers, Chinachem Group supports the ACE Art competition, organised by the Mighty Oaks Foundation. About 1,700 pieces of artwork created by young students are gifted to elderly homes and centres, spread love and joy across generations.
Senior Housing Investment in Hong Kong
Supported by the Urban Land Institute (ULI), we developed Hong Kong’s inaugural senior housing investment report. In a city known for challenging property prices and a competitive living environment, finding quality affordable housing remains a pressing issue for many of Hong Kong’s young people. It’s against this backdrop that the Home² Youth Hostel project emerged — a collaborative effort between Chinachem Group’s Nina Hospitality and The Y.Elites Association, designed to offer not just a place to live, but a platform for growth, connection, and empowerment.

A record breaking, 500 students from 82 local and Greater Bay Area schools unleashed their creativity in the My Green Space Student Competition 2024–2025, organised by the Hong Kong Green Building Council (HKGBC) and solely sponsored by Chinachem Group (CCG). The competition challenged participants to design their ideal "Green and Smart City".
Supporting Students through Impact Booster
We co-organise the programme with the Social Enterprise Summit, empowering students to create innovative community solutions for Tsuen Wan. Through seed funding, we help turn their ideas into reality. Now in its third year since 2022, the programme inspires young changemakers to drive positive impact.

In partnership with the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce (HKGCC), we support tertiary students and recent graduates by providing business cases to solve. Operation Santa Claus
For the fourth consecutive year, we support Operation Santa Claus, a city-wide charity campaign organised by the South China Morning Post and Radio Television Hong Kong. Through various initiatives, we aim to spread joy and care to those in need, promoting the spirit of giving.
Urban Climb 300m+
Chinachem was the lead partner of the fundraising initiative Urban Climb 300M+, where paraplegic rock climber Lai Chi-wai take on the challenge of climbing Nina Tower, Chinachem’s landmark headquarters in Tsuen Wan and the tallest building in New Territories. This project raised more than HK$7.7 million, including our matching donation of over HK$3.8 million, to the “Get up and Walk” programme of the Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology in the LKS Faculty of Medicine at The University of Hong Kong (HKUMed).

The onset of Covid-19 led to the mass closure of schools in Hong Kong, immediately forcing organised learning online. However gaining access to computers and the internet, often regarded as universal, can be very challenging for underprivileged families. With the assistance of the Rotary Club of Kai Tak, the Chinese YMCA of Hong Kong, and the Hong Kong Single Parents Association, we donated laptops and internet connections, together with the set up of software and the offer of basic training to 53 children living in Shek Kip Mei and Sham Shui Po.
Covid Busters
Providing persons with disabilities opportunities to work is a key component to these individuals long-term financial needs and mental health, and the disabled are typically at greater risk during pandemic. To assist with this, Chinachem sponsored Fu Hong Society’s social enterprise to provide free local-invented long-term disinfection coating spray services for 20 day service centres by a team comprising persons with and without disabilities. This initiative not only creates safer environment against Covid-19, but also offers the disabled job opportunities, allowing them to help themselves as well as those in need, and make it a win-win situation for society.

During COVID-19, some of our hotels served as Designated Hotels for quarantine stays. At Nina Hotel Island South, over 170 quarantined guests organised “The Wave,” decorating their windows with uplifting messages to express gratitude. Our colleagues responded with warm smiles and waves in return.
