success for the Chinachem Group is not defined by the figures that appear at the

Creating long term value in a sustainable manner
Leading in smarter building techniques
Chinachem are pioneers
in Hong Kong, utilising the significantly more sustainable technique of
Modular Integrated Construction (MiC) in their Tonkin Street
Redevelopment project, a first for the city. Pre-formed and fitted out
in a factory, apartments are craned into position as complete units,
with all the necessary services and infrastructure already in place.
This innovative approach offers significant on-site
reductions in waste, noise, manpower, time, and therefore cost. And as
efficiencies and greater levels of quality are be built in at the
factory, end users enjoy a much more sustainable and affordable living
environment.

Join hands with PolyU to foster industry-academic collaborationChinachem and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen research collaboration among industry, academia and research organisations to drive innovative solutions for sustainable development of the Greater Bay Area (GBA). The partnership leverages the combined strengths and experience of PolyU in interdisciplinary research with that of Chinachem in property and community development. The MoU sets out a framework for both parties to conduct three pilot research projects to explore innovative solutions and technology applications to help achieve the goals of carbon neutrality, an inclusive society and a green economy.

Extending business to the logistic sectorChinachem entered into a Joint Venture with ESR Group Limited to develop a prime cold storage and logistics facility at Kwai Chung in Hong Kong, expected to be completed in 2027. As a leading property developer rooted in Hong Kong, Chinachem Group is extending its business to the logistics sector for the first time through this collaboration. The facility will have several sustainable building features and targets to achieve at least a Gold or Platinum certification for BEAM Plus and Gold for LEED. 30% of the site area will be designated for greenery, including a rooftop garden. The carparking spaces will also come with Electric Vehicle (EV) charging capability and there will be a recycling irrigation water system for the landscape area.
A greener way to finance

When thinking about sustainable property development, one generally pictures green building techniques, renewable energy sources, and property management technologies. However, there’s a significant and largely invisible but impactful component, which Chinachem Group has been utilising since 2019, and that’s green financing.
Put simply, green financing is a form of loan or investment that’s been created in a form to ensure a better environmental outcome. These financial instruments are designed to be used for the development of green projects, the minimization of climate impact on regular projects, or a combination of both. And they’ve become a vital element in our fight against climate change.
