CCG Pickleball Challenge 2026 Kicks Off at D·PARK

Connecting community via sports

02 April 2026

Peter Brien, Chairman and Independent Non-Executive Director of Chinachem Group, delivers welcome remarks at the Opening Ceremony and Celebrity Invitational Match of the “CCG Pickleball Challenge 2026.” He highlights how the event makes good use of space at D·PARK to promote active living through pickleball—an easy-to-learn sport—while strengthening community bonds and a sense of belonging through physical activity.

Committed to promoting community connection and active living through sport and placemaking initiatives, Chinachem Group (“CCG”) is staging Hong Kong’s largest pickleball tournament ever held in a shopping mall, the CCG Pickleball Challenge 2026, in partnership with Bay Pickle at its mall D·PARK. Building on the momentum of last year’s CCG Tsuen Wan Games, the event will feature a free admission Pickleball Carnival, encouraging the public to enjoy the sport in an accessible and relaxed setting. To meet growing community demand for sports facilities, D·PARK will add two standard pickleball courts in its atrium after the tournament, bringing the total number of courts at the mall to four* and supporting more regular participation in active living.

The CCG Pickleball Challenge 2026 is sponsored by Chinachem Group, organised by Bay Pickle and co-organised by D·PARK. Held from 3 to 12 April, the ten day tournament will run simultaneously across four indoor courts at D·PARK. Since registration opened, more than 1,000 players aged 5 to 64 have signed up to compete in men’s, women’s and mixed singles and doubles, with over 1,200 matches scheduled. Zhou Yunming, a National Level 1 Referee, will be the tournament’s chief referee, making it the only amateur pickleball tournament in Hong Kong supervised by a national level referee.

The Opening Ceremony and Celebrity Invitational Match was held today, attended by Peter Brien, Chairman and Independent Non Executive Director of Chinachem Group; Andy Cheung, Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of Chinachem Group; Albert Fung, Co founder of Bay Pickle; Jenny Wan, Chairperson of the Hong Kong Pickleball Foundation; as well as celebrities Linda Chung and Fatboy (Leung Yip) of ERROR, officially marking the start of the tournament.

Mr Andy Cheung, Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of Chinachem Group, said, “The CCG Pickleball Challenge illustrates how everyday spaces can be reimagined to foster community connection and inspire active living. With its capability to host large-scale sports events, D·PARK continues to develop as a neighbourhood sports hub. Looking ahead, we will continue to activate our spaces to create shared experiences. At Chinachem, we believe the value of a place goes beyond physical structures and lies in the connections and memories formed there.”

Albert Fung, Co-founder of Bay Pickle, said, “Pickleball’s rapid growth in Hong Kong reflects its accessibility and cross generational appeal. Easy to pick up, the sport brings together younger players, families and seniors alike. Hosting a tournament of this scale in a shopping mall provides an important platform to raise professional standards and strengthen connections within the pickleball community.”

To recognise outstanding performance, champions of the Open Men’s and Women’s Singles will receive a four day pickleball exchange trip to Malaysia valued at HKD 12,000, featuring matches with top local players and training sessions led by certified coaches. SKECHERS is providing vouchers and prizes worth over HKD 270,000 across competition categories, while EVA Air is sponsoring round trip Asia flight tickets for champions in three Open Doubles divisions.

All tournament proceeds, after costs, will be donated to the Hong Kong Pickleball Foundation to support the local development of the sport. In addition, pickleball training opportunities will be extended to beneficiaries of the Cheers Up Foundation, promoting inclusion and access to the game.

* The courts comprise three standard courts and one practice court.
