Chinachem Group Signs a Memorandum of Understanding with The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen

Chinachem Group signs a Memorandum of Understanding with The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen to foster industrial-academia-research collaboration. Chinachem Group (“the Group”) and The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen (“CUHK-Shenzhen”) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for a strategic partnership to explore collaboration in fields such as medical care, sustainable development and smart city development, with the objective of leveraging the combined strengths of the Group and CHUK Shenzhen for mutual benefit.

 

Professor Xu Yangsheng, President of CUHK Shenzhen, conveyed his congratulations to the two parties and shared his expectations for their co-operation. “This co-operation signifies a milestone for both CUHK-Shenzhen and the Group with the University celebrating its upcoming 10th Anniversary very soon, while the Group is entering a new era of sustainable development since its establishment over 60 years ago,” Professor Xu said. “Our collaboration will be a valuable demonstration of the training and development of talented professionals, and the development of industrial innovations in the Greater Bay Area.  We will strive to contribute to establishing an international technological innovation centre in the GBA.”

This collaboration fosters industry-academia-research interaction and explores solutions in areas such as medical and life science facilities, sustainable development, smart cities, and the aging population. It will also help drive the Group's business diversification and further leverage the advantages of Shenzhen and Hong Kong to generate mutual benefits.

 

Under the MoU framework, the Group and CUHK-Shenzhen intend to establish an ATP GMP Centre (Centre for Good Manufacturing Practices for Advanced Therapy Products) as the pilot collaboration project of developing a medical and life sciences facility, which is strongly supported by the Longgang District Government of Shenzhen. In addition, the MoU promotes in-depth co-operation between industry, academia and research institutes, according to the needs of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. In the future, the two parties will join hands to further strengthen the innovative development of medical platforms, modern logistics and more.  This collaboration will reinforce talent development and exchanges at CUHK-Shenzhen to promote the implementation of innovation-driven development strategies and accelerate the independence and self-reliance of high-level scientific and technological development for major contributions to the Government.
