Career Day for Central Market Revitalisation Project to be held in mid-May
Over 500 positions on offer, supporting Hong Kong’s road to full economic recovery

13 May 2021
Background

Chinachem Group (“the Group”) has grown with Hong Kong through its highs and lows for six decades, always striving to create positive social impact. Earlier this year, the Group and the Urban Renewal Authority signed a contract to jointly operate and manage the Central Market, transforming it into a approachable, energetic and gregarious new landmark. Work on the project is currently under way and a Career Day will be held on 19 May (Wednesday, public holiday for Buddha’s Birthday) to provide opportunities for on-site interviews and immediate offers to successful candidates.

Themed “Your Future At Our Heart,” the event is expected to provide up to 200 vacancies involving the Central Market Revitalisation Project, including roles in property management, food and beverage, customer service, IT and leasing. Recruitment activities for other Chinachem Group positions will take place on the same day, for positions at the first wood fossil museum, Nina Park and for the Group’s real estate, hotel, and food and beverage businesses, as well as for newly-created roles such as Curator and Business Intelligence Manager. Providing more than 500 positions, the Career Day is set to spur Hong Kong on its path towards full economic recovery.

Recruiting talent for Central Market with on-site interviews and hiring

“As one of Hong Kong’s primary developers, the Group places great importance on social value and is always striving to improve the lives of its stakeholders," says Chinachem Group Executive Director and CEO Mr. Donald Choi. "We see these efforts as just as important as business revenue and believe that People, Prosperity, and Planet play an equally significant role in our operations. In organising this Career Day, we hope to bring new hope to those whose jobs have been affected by the pandemic, as well as those who wish to make a career change, while also recruiting the best talent for the Group's upcoming Central Market Revitalisation Project and other business development plans. The Career Day welcomes candidates of different sectors and age groups, including ethnic minorities and those with disabilities, reflecting our mission of building a diverse, harmonious and more habitable city.”

Diverse vacancies and job types offered

The local economy continues to be impacted by the pandemic, with the retail, hospitality, and food and beverage service industries reporting a combined unemployment rate of up to 10.7%;  within the F&B and events industry, it has reached 13.3% [1] . The Career Day will provide many job opportunities in these fields to inject fresh energy and talent into the Central Market Revitalisation project. Those wishing to join the ranks of the Group's financial management, real estate investment, shopping mall leasing, corporate communications, property management, property sales and engineering departments, as well as its hospitality and F&B operations, will also find numerous job openings from which to choose at the Career Day.

In line with the Group’s business development trajectory, the Career Day will also offer job opportunities in business innovation and digital transformation, including positions as digital marketing analyst. With the Central Market Revitalisation Project and Hong Kong’s first wood fossil museum, Nina Park soon going into operation, talent will also be recruited for curatorial roles and other related positions.

The Career Day will be held on Wednesday 19 May at the Central Market site. In light of the ongoing pandemic, measures will be put in place for social distancing. Candidates should register online in advance and arrive on site at the designated time. There will be seven booths at the Career Day to introduce the hiring companies and details of job openings. Candidates may submit their resumés at the booths to arrange for a potential on-site interview.
